I am always looking for ways to improve things. After studying mechanical engineering, I started working at Doctors Without Borders (MSF). In crisis situations around the world, I could make individual people's lives a little better by providing drinking water and sanitation. After working internationally for seven years, I worked in (project) management roles for 10 years at Stork and Nuon. At Nuon I was inspired by the Lean philosophy. Since then I have implemented a large number of change processes at various organizations. In recent years I have managed a large-scale, international change process, including a major staff reduction, an adjustment of the product portfolio and the construction of a new factory.
My personal style is characterized by:
Result orientation - To be effective, I want to know the purpose of a change. During the process this is my guidance on which I report on progress, enter into conversations and define actions. I work in a structured and pragmatic way towards the defined end-result.
Attention for people - I feel the importance of treating all people in the organization with respect. This means that I attach great importance to honesty and transparency in change programs. My experience is that you can also make the most painful decisions respectfully.
Leave on time - I believe in the strength of organizations and people. My role as a change manager is temporary and an organization must get back on its own feet as soon as possible. One of the biggest compliments I get is: "You were gone before we even wanted to discuss it."
